Forever Love:Nigar & Illgar

On November 5, 2011 Illgar and Nigar promised each other the rest of their lives. I have no idea what was said at the short ceremony, but I could feel the love and excitement in the room, not only from the bride and groom but from family and friends who were witness to their covenant. To the bride and groom, I pray you have a long and happy marriage centered on the One who brought you together and modeled for us Perfect Love.

My friend Nina and I were delighted to be able to capture some precious images of the bride, her bridesmaids, family and finally the bride and groom together. An Azeri wedding is a bit different from what I am used to. The Groom goes to the house of the bride with his family and friends and a musical band to find his bride and marry her, then they ride off in a caravan of honking cars (for which everyone in the city stops to let by like a funeral procession only happier) toward the reception site. There were other photographers and videographers at the reception so we did not go, but I hear they are always full of food, drink, and merry times! Few people are at the ceremony but wedding receptions here are HUGE (and from what I hear you pay to get in, takes the burden off the brides parents?) So, now you know what little I know after being a part of an Azeri wedding...Here are some of my favorite shots I took from the day.
